The MIT Community Running Club (MITcrc) is the premier Silicon Valley running club. We are Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) Central California Champions and won multiple Silicon Valley Marathon awards. We participate in major events, hold fun walks/runs, and offer special running clinics. Our objective is to have fun improving health and fitness through walking and running with other enthusiasts.
We are an open club and encourage all walking/running enthusiasts to participate with us in all events. MITcrc members receive special discounts on and/or access to athletic gear, personal coaching, group workouts, sports psychology, sports massages, SVCC facilities, MITcrc news, and RRCA benefits as well as our official politically correct MITcrc Boston Marathon RRCA Champions shirt. We emphasize fun and offer coaching and camaraderie so all enjoy participating at their own paces and improving at their own rates.
We are strongly committed to helping others improve. We encourage walkers to walk further and increase their paces. We encourage runners to try new events and increase their distances. Our founder was an old, overweight, out of shape couch potato who decided to run the April 16, 2001 Boston Marathon to honor his son and his son's graduating MIT class; he subsequently ran three marathons that year. Over 130 athletes and volunteers participated on our Silicon Valley Marathon team. Most had never participated before in a marathon, half marathon, or marathon relay. MITcrc also includes experienced runners including numerous marathoners with an average of three marathons each. Our members are committed to helping others improve their enjoyment and performance.
MITcrc is your club. You decide where to walk/run and can contact walking/running partners at your convenience. Short walk/run events are available every weekend and weekday; major events happen every month. You can organize special fun walks/runs and unique events that suit your interests and availability.
